Overcoming Infertility and Navigating Your Pathway to Familyhood
Facing the challenges of infertility can evoke feelings of sadness and frustration for many individuals who dream of parenthood. It’s reassuring to know that advancements in fertility treatments offer numerous options for those pursuing their family goals. If you're among those contemplating how to proceed when faced with fertility issues, a same-sex partnership or wish to rse a child indepently, you're not alone.
At Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine PCRM, we understand your aspirations and are dedicated to providing personalized support through our team of highly trned fertility specialists. Common misconceptions suggest that only women struggle with infertility. However, the reality is that male factors such as sperm quality or count often contribute more significantly to infertility cases. This is why when a couple visits us, both partners undergo assessments - one for male factors and another for female factors.
For men, we recomm a semen analysis to evaluate the health of their sperm and assess fertility potential. We might also conduct tests on hormone levels and suggest additional diagnostic procedures as necessary. For women, our approach includes identifying conditions such as ometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome PCOS, ovulation issues or abnormalities in the uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries.
Once we've pinpointed the specific cause of infertility, we tlor a treatment plan based on your age and the nature of the issue. Options range from simple fertility medications to more advanced procedures like assisted reproductive technology, including In Vitro Fertilization IVF.
For those facing two-mom families or single parenting scenarios, donor sperm offers a viable solution. You can opt for a known donor through our internal program or an anonymous donor sourced from a reputable sperm bank.
In the case of using a known donor, we ensure thorough screening and approval before proceeding with fertility treatments at PCRM. An anonymous donor will provide sperm samples directly to us following which they are frozen and shipped in units to our clinic for use.
There are two mn methods for using donor sperm: Intrauterine Insemination IUI and IVF:
For couples desiring active involvement throughout pregnancy, IUI is appropriate.
IVF, or in vitro fertilization, is a more comprehensive process where eggs are harvested from one partner, fertilized in our laboratory and later implanted back into another's uterus. For single women with healthy reproductive health seeking to go through this alone, they may opt for egg retrieval followed by fertilization with their own sperm.
When considering families composed of two dads, we offer options like Surrogacy or Gestational Surrogacy:
Traditional Surrogacy involves a woman donating both her eggs and uterus for the pregnancy. This can be facilitated through IUI if one dad wishes to participate directly in conception.
Gestational Surrogacy, requiring separate egg donors and gestational carriers, typically necessitates IVF.
If you're navigating any of these scenarios or have questions about your fertility options, contact us at PCRM for a personalized consultation. Our compassionate team is here to guide you through each step of your unique journey towards parenthood with knowledge, experience, kindness and personalized care.
